Well, wasn't that a cool episode set in 1953. References to Logopolis, Paradise Towers, Elvis, Cliff Richard, oh, I mean, it was about a fascist dictator who took control of his family after the war. Um, actually it was about the Doctor and Rose interest in 1950s music, or was it about the coronation of Queen Elizabeth? Hang about, there was so much stuff going on in this episode that I think, yeah, it was about women rising up and standing up for themselves, emancipation, and it was about young boys finding how to stand up for themselves too.
Oh, wait a sec, it was Doctor Who wasn't it? That's right! It was about an alien entity that wanted to absorb the electrical energy from people to finally manifest itself corporeally rather than being stuck in a TV set. In any case a cool review is here
It's been revealed that Peter Kay will play the Abzorbaloff. And here's a picture from this report

Wow, what an episode. Excellent stuff. The writer, Tom McRae, has to be congratulated for finally giving us a Genesis of the Cybermen story. Age of Steel is the best episode so far. And Jackie Tyler as oops, sorry, won't give it away.
Check out a much more detailed review here: Age of Steel
A great place to get updated information on the latest Doctor Who episodes weeks before they screen is the BBC Press Office. Unfortunately the BBC are in the habit of removing links the moment they have no reason to keep them there so, being able to look back through time at old press releases is impossible.
So, this is your last chance to check out these files before they fade away.

Rose finds herself further away from home than ever before, on a desolate world in the orbit of a Black Hole, in the first episode of this two-part story. Trapped with an Earth expedition and the mysterious Ood, the time-travellers face an even greater danger as something ancient beneath the planet's surface begins to awake. The story concludes next week.
David Tennant plays the Doctor, Billie Piper plays Rose and Will Thorp plays Toby.

Finally, after 18 years, we get a new Cybermen story (not counting Dimensions in Time). And it's a cracker. There were so many good things about this episode, including the fact that there is one cliffhanger, not 3 like in Season 1, and the fear, drama and 'chills' are back.

Remember that trailer that's been seen on BBC TV and passed around the net showing scenes of Cybermen? Guess what! It contains scenes from episodes 12 and 13. Some of the Cybermen scenes are not from episodes 5 and 6. Surprise surprise! Apparently the last two episodes were created back to back with episodes 5 and 6. I suppose that's logical considering they had all the costumes and actors there ready. But the real big secret regarding episodes 12 & 13 is:

This is a neat story set in France. The Doctor, Rose and Mickey encounter clockwork droids with a single mission, to find the spare part to get the ship working again. Unfortunately that spare part is the brain of a 37 year old mistress to the King of France!

Doctor Who is back and I'm so excited. I've been looking forward to the second season with David Tennant for ages. Billie Piper gets to wear some more revealing outfits and Elisabeth Sladen appears as Sarah Jane Smith. And now, in just a few days time, the Cybermen will return.
Happy days!
