Speech to speech electronic dictionaries translatorsLast month I wrote about the universal translator and how you could speak into it and get a verbal translation. I also said I believed it was discontinued. Well Ectaco have released a new range of speech to speech translators with up to a million words in some of the dictionaries as well as the option of adding other languages to the device. The series is called SpeechGuard TL2 and some of the versions available have more than one language on them. Like the TL-2EW6 which has English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. Speak into it in English and it'll speak back in the language you want to hear. Speak into it in the other languages installed and it'll speak back to you in English. Sounds pretty cool.

Hmm, I'd probably still recommend doing some language classes and using this to supplement your learning though. I don't believe it will be able to help you explain your dissertation on the effects of microcredit in developing nations and how that impacts on the causal nexus of auxiliary redundancy codes development. It might, but I just don't know. ;)
