This month's theory is about rejecting the generally accepted notion that more carbon is increasing the temperature of Earth. Here are the facts:
1. The temperature of Mars is increasing.

2. Carbon Dioxide only accounts for 0.038 of a percent per volume.

3. Oceans store carbon dioxide

So, if Carbon Dioxide is in such small amounts in the atmosphere, how is it causing our planet to get hotter? And if Mars is increasing in temperature too, are the aliens driving SUVs?
What single thing could increase the temperature of the Earth? Well, the Sun of course! And anyone old enough to remember World War II can probably tell you, the temperature now seems very similar to the temperature 60 years ago. It's just one of many cycles that the sun has.
If you've seen 'An Inconvenient Truth' featuring Al Gore, one of the things he says is that an increase in carbon causes an increase in temperature.
Actually, he's got it the wrong way around! Any high school chemistry student can tell you that when you heat water you release a number of gases, carbon dioxide included.
Hmm, now what do we have that contains a lot of carbon dioxide just waiting to be released by some rising temperatures? Oh, I know, the oceans!
So, the Earth is getting hotter and there's nothing you can do about it. Sit back, relax and enjoy the heat! In another 20 years or so it'll be cold again!
